Love Your Body - for women only

 

When I boarded my flight to Belize in May 2007, I never imagined this ancient land of the Moon Goddess Ixchel would inspire me to teach women how to love their bodies. 

As soon as my feet were back on Canadian soil my intuition guided me to pursue a yoga program in women's studies. As I studied how yoga can help a woman heal her body I came across a book that changed the course of my life.  In the Red Moon, Miranda Gray reveals our womb wisdom - the secret of how to rise and fall in love with the rhythms of our bodies every month.  Thanks to Miranda's work, the Moon Goddess Yoga series was born, where I teach women how to use yoga, in combination with their monthly cycle, to love their bodies.

Miranda's insights into the menstrual cycle tell the story of how we women are so fabulously complex - we can move from Go-Getter to Nurturer to Wild Woman to Home-Body all in one month!  These 4 distinct times of the month open up endless possibilities for us to love our fully, fabulous, feminine selves.

Declare your self-love by using Valentine's month to love YOU.  Take out your agenda and count the days - where day 1 is the first day of your period - and calculate where you are in your cycle:

Go-getter: Preovulation: Days 7 - 13
Nurturer:Ovulation: Days 14 - 20
Wild-woman:Pre-menstruation: Days 21 - 28
Home-body:Menstruation: Days 1 - 6

Based on your "time of the month" here's some insight on how best to love YOU:


Go-getter: Your energy is climbing, your waistline is shrinking and your aura is shining. This is a great time to call your girlfriends and go out Sex-in-the-City style. Keep your overnight essentials in your purse!

 

Nurturer: Your heart is brimming with those oh so good feelings. Express your love with a delectable home cooked meal for a special someone and feed your way to their heart. They'll be licking their lips (and maybe your fingers.?!) in delight.

 

Wild-woman: There's a lot stirring inside you right now which may feel like you're losing control. Take charge of your energy by giving yourself a creative outlet. Get physical and get it out of your system. Any kind of workout that puts you in the 'zone' is a really good idea right now.

 

Home-body: The wisdom of your body is in full blossom and you feel it in your belly. Get into your comfy clothes, light some candles, and take 10 minutes to breathe into your navel. Your mind will effortlessly merge into blissful meditation, your body will melt into deep relaxation, and any difficult sensations will ease off.
