Are You Ready To Give Birth?
Birthing is like climbing a mountain. It's important to be prepared - First you look for a guide you trust, and who will show you the way. Second, you get into shape.
Like all physical challenges, childbirth requires you to train - mind, body and spirit.
Training your mind helps you to focus during labour. As an old Asian saying goes, "A focused mind can cut through steel."
Yoga and meditation help you sharpen your mind, instead of letting it run wild with doubts and fears. Learn a breath meditation to focus your mind and cut through the challenging moments in labour.
Giving birth is work - that's why it's called labour! Prepare your body by building physical stamina and flexibility. Practice yoga squats for strength and power so you can ride your contractions with calm confidence.
Pregnancy is when you are closest to source. Take time to experience your vastness of spirit before labour, so you don't feel like running away from the intensity of childbirth. Use this meditation to unlock your hidden power and overcome fear.
Your body is a vessel through which another soul is being born - this is the ultimate seva , or service you can do for another being. Be kind to yourself and to the growing life within you.
To prepare for childbirth:
- Invest time and energy to train your mind, body and spirit with yoga and meditation.
- Educate yourself about what to expect during labour and delivery.
- Hire a good birth doula to support you through childbirth.
