Why Am I here?
Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is?
It was November 2003, the weekend of the Santa Clause parade. My friend Rishma and I were invited to meet Yogi Akal master of numerology and yoga.
I was fascinated - What did numerology have to do with yoga? I felt compelled to meet this master and hear what he had to say.
Little did I know that my entire life would change after that brief encounter.
Rishma, our friend Gina and I had a private audience with Yogi Akal accompanied by some staff members. We did some spinal warm ups which are unique to kundalini yoga. Since the exercises were unfamiliar to me I wondered when we would practice the yoga I was used to. After a few exercises we moved right into numerology and I figured we didn’t “get to” the yoga part of it.
When it was my turn for the numerology, Yogi Akal said to me “You are a teacher.” I looked at him and I said, no I wasn’t a teacher, I was actually in marketing but I was considering doing yoga teacher training for fun. He looked at me decisively and repeated, “I am telling you, you are a teacher.”
I wasn't convinced so I kept on questioning.
With the same intensity he persisted, “You are in a yoga school, talking to a Yogi and you are asking me if you should do yoga teacher training?” I started to wonder, maybe he was right?
I knew without a doubt that I was not acting from my rational mind, but purely from intuition. All the warning bells were going off in my head and yet, something else was moving me, something far deeper than my mind.
In retrospect I know this was intuition.
I spent 7 days crying after I put my tuition on my credit card and went into debt to become a yoga teacher. My mind was reeling with the commitment I had made without doing any research or any rational decision making. Me who generally didn’t make any decisions without knowing all my options had committed to over 500 hours of training!
It wasn’t an easy process and it continues to be challenging to study with a master but I know now what it means to let life work through you.
I was born a teacher and when the time was right my teacher appeared to guide me through my process. I feel honoured and blessed that I can now share these teachings with all of you.
Yoga and meditation help open the flow of intuition within you. Each exercise allows you to run a little practice drill with your body, mind and spirit so you can experience your still point. In this place of no mind you begin to hear the voice of intuition.
Are you are ready to tap into your intuition and allow life to flow through you?
Join me on Wednesday April 30th for a free beginners meditation workshop at Roots Yoga Studio and open to your intuitive flow.
You too can learn how to access your intution and live your life's purpose.
